5ESS switch Forum Are the 5E.S.S. switched with the G.T.D.-5 E.A.X. system or are they different?What was the receiver off hook tone for this? was it a siren or buzzer?

GTD-5 EAX Forum - Receiver Off Hook Tone For G.T.D.-5 E.A.X.   Is the R.O.H. tone for the GTD-5 EAX a siren of a buzzer? The off hook tone for a GTD-5 EAX. may be a reffered to as a high tone. But it said the high tone is 480 Hz. But when I was a kid back living in Farragut in 1979 to1981 I don't recall it being that high pitch. I though it was a medium pitch sound. Now could there be other systems? like ESS switches? Are ESS switches conected to GTD-5 EAX switches or are they different? Now is the warbling siren sound that reffered to as a howler tone build into the GTD-5 EAX system or is the so called howler tone with a different phone system?

Telephone High Tone And Howler Tone.

     Does a Tenephone Howler tone and a High tone sound the same of do they sound different? Is the high tone a siren or buzzer?

GTD-5 EAX Forum - Receiver Off Hook Tone For G.T.D.-5 E.A.X.  Is the r.o.h. tone a siren or a buzzer? How does the r.o.h. tone sound? Is the r.o.h. tone autonatic or manual? How does the switchboard know that someone has left their phone off hook tone? How do they opperate the r.o.h. tone?

   The Concord Telephone Exchange Inc.  in Farragut Tn. had a receiver off hook tone that was a medium pitch sound that went like a horn. I lived there back in 1980 to 1981. does anyone have any idea what kind of off hook tone that was? Was it a howler tone or high tone? was the concord Telephone Exchange Inc. a G.T.D.-5 E.A.X. system or a P.B.X. system or a P.A.B.X. system or a P.A.X. system or a ROLM C.B.X. system? Please let me know. Thank you.
